but an experience in the body that <strong>can be healed<\/strong>.<br \/>Trauma can steal joy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Different types of trauma<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Type 1<\/strong> &#8211; a specific event<br \/><strong>Type 2<\/strong> &#8211; a life situation<\/p>\n<p><strong>Developmental Trauma Disorder (DTD<\/strong> ) &#8211; Bessel van der Kolk<br \/><strong>Relational trauma<\/strong> &#8211; the first 1000 days &#8211; Allan Schore<br \/><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Trauma is not always covered by <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 15px;\">the PTSD diagnosis<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Many traumatized people are instead given other diagnoses, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>depression<\/li>\n<li>anxiety<\/li>\n<li>ADHD<\/li>\n<li>autism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Complex PTSD<\/strong> &#8211; prolonged traumatization caused by people who should be safe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dissociation<\/strong> &#8211; memories are activated in the right hemisphere, while the left hemisphere<br \/>(language, context and the story of ourselves) temporarily shuts down.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 48px 0;\">\n<hr>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Signs of trauma<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>fear, insecurity<\/li>\n<li>control needs<\/li>\n<li>anxiety and panic attacks<\/li>\n<li>flashbacks<\/li>\n<li>triggers<\/li>\n<li>reliving the event &#8211; in speech, play or by constantly looking for danger<\/li>\n<li>sleeping difficulties<\/li>\n<li>inability to relax<\/li>\n<li>hyperactivity<\/li>\n<li>numbness \/ numbness<\/li>\n<li>feel too much or too little<\/li>\n<li>difficulties in regulating emotions<\/li>\n<li>anger<\/li>\n<li>acting out behaviors<\/li>\n<li>relationship difficulties<\/li>\n<li>low self-esteem<\/li>\n<li>misunderstanding<\/li>\n<li>psychosomatic reactions<\/li>\n<li>frozen facial expression and body movements<\/li>\n<li>loss of appetite<\/li>\n<li>regression<\/li>\n<li>energy shortage<\/li>\n<li>depression<\/li>\n<li>reduced creativity<\/li>\n<li>personality changes<\/li>\n<li>self-destructive behaviors<\/li>\n<li>sexualized behaviors<\/li>\n<li>thoughts of revenge<\/li>\n<li>guilt and shame<\/li>\n<li>magical thinking<\/li>\n<li>feeling of meaninglessness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Infants<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>lack of growth<\/li>\n<li>attachment difficulties<\/li>\n<li>tenseness<\/li>\n<li>lack of eye contact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Preschool children<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>autism-like behaviors<\/li>\n<li>compulsive play<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>School children<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>takes too much responsibility<\/li>\n<li>bed-wetting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Teenagers<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>hopelessness<\/li>\n<li>risk-taking<\/li>\n<li>avoids becoming an adult &#8211; or becomes an adult too early<\/li>\n<li>need for strong stimulus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Signs and symptoms may appear after <strong>6 months<\/strong>,<br \/>or only after <strong>1.5-2 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div style=\"margin: 48px 0;\">\n<hr>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Common emotions in trauma<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Powerlessness<\/strong> &#8211; &#8220;I don&#8217;t know what to do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Loneliness<\/strong> &#8211; &#8220;No one sees me or what I am experiencing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abandonment<\/strong> &#8211; &#8220;No one understands me or helps me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shame<\/strong> &#8211;
